Cyberbullying At Work

6 Feb

I thought I’d share this ‘info sheet’ that I found online regarding cyberbullying at work place. This speaks to our discussion that we had in Section 8 today; it moves the discussion from youth to adults and how similiar tactics are applied.

I found that on my wall yesterday, but I suppose it touches a tad bit more on gender than cyberbullying. Although, it does have to do with how people (in this case, specifically, female gamers) become subject to criticism and harassment as soon as they put themselves out on the internet.

Thanks for sharing this article. I had no idea that this gaming subculture existed. It’s very interesting to see the intersection between gender, image/identity, voyeurism, and the gaming culture. Also, this alludes to a larger idea of the ‘male gaze’ and how this act creates a hyper reality; the viewer becomes an active participant in the gaming experience, ultimately becoming a character as a spectator making them apart of the interaction.
